  • We do not use advertising or data brokers.

  • We make money only from subscriptions.

  • Your data is used only to provide and improve the app.

  • Some data is stored locally on your device for offline use and performance.

  • AI-powered features run on-device using Apple Intelligence / Foundation Models.

1. Who We Are

Snail Kite Studios LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates Paper Personal Finance (“Paper,” “App,” or “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use the App.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to provide and improve the Service.

A. Account & Authentication Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address

  • Authentication information handled securely by Firebase Authentication

Supported sign-in methods may include:

  • Email & password

  • Google Sign-In

  • Apple Sign-In

We do not store plaintext passwords.

B. Financial Account & Transaction Data (via Plaid)

With your explicit consent, we use Plaid to connect to your financial institutions and retrieve:

  • Account balances

  • Transaction history

  • Institution and account metadata

This data is used only to provide budgeting and personal finance features inside the App.
You can revoke access at any time by disconnecting Plaid within the App.

C. Usage, Analytics & Diagnostic Data

To improve reliability and performance, we collect limited technical data using Google Firebase, including:

Firebase Analytics

  • Screen views

  • Feature usage

  • Session frequency

  • Engagement metrics

Firebase Crashlytics

  • Crash logs

  • Device type and OS version

  • App state at time of crash

Crash reports are for stability and debugging and do not intentionally include your financial transaction data.

D. Local Device Storage

Paper stores some data locally on your device (for performance and offline use), such as:

  • Cached account and transaction data

  • App preferences and settings

    Local data:

    • Remains on your device

    • Is protected by iOS encryption and app sandboxing

    • Is removed when the app is deleted (per iOS behavior)

    E. On-Device AI Processing

    Paper may include AI-powered features to help answer financial questions.

    • AI runs on-device using Apple Intelligence / Foundation Models

    • Prompts and responses are processed locally

    • We do not receive or store your AI prompts or AI responses

    Apple’s platform policies apply to on-device AI processing.

    3. How We Use Your Information

    We use your information to:

    • Authenticate and manage your account

    • Display your financial information in the App

    • Provide budgeting and insights features

    • Improve app performance and reliability

    • Diagnose issues and fix crashes

    • Communicate service-related updates (such as important account or product notices)

  • We do not:

    • Sell your data

    • Use your data for advertising

    • Build behavioral profiles

    • Track you across other companies’ apps or websites

    • Use AI prompts/responses for analytics or training

4. Data Sharing & Third-Party Services

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We only share data with third-party providers required to operate the App:

Plaid

Used to securely connect your financial institutions and retrieve account/transaction data, with your permission.

Google Firebase

Used for:

  • Authentication

  • Cloud database storage (Firestore)

  • Analytics

  • Crash reporting

Firebase is not used for advertising in Paper.

Apple (On-Device AI)

Apple provides on-device AI models. Processing happens locally on your device and we do not receive AI prompts or outputs.

5. Your Choices & Controls

You can:

  • Disconnect your linked financial accounts (Plaid) at any time

  • Control device permissions in iOS Settings

  • Request deletion of your account (see Contact section)

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your data, including secure authentication, encryption in transit where applicable, and iOS sandboxing for local storage. No system can be 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

7. Data Retention

We retain information only as long as necessary to provide the Service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. You may request account deletion at any time.

8. Children’s Privacy

Paper is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date and may provide notice in the App.
